Q.I’ve never worked with a designer before, what can I expect?
A.Working with a designer should be a fun and rewarding experience. Fun because you are focusing on your project and dreams, and rewarding because you now have someone working for you that will turn them into a reality. Some clients consult with WD when they get stuck on their project or realize that its too overwhelming and they need help. In this case they may just need a few hours of consultation to get back on track, while others might need assistance every step of the way. Q.I have my own contractor, is that okay?
A.Absolutely. Winsweiler Designs main focus is working with you to create the best possible design for your home and lifestyle. We are happy to work with whoever is performing the work, and realize that a successful project is a team effort.
Q.Do I have to purchase items from you?
A.No, you are free to purchase items such as furniture, fixtures, paint, etc. directly depending on the manufacture/business. Some clients prefer to purchase through WD because we track and coordinate delivery, and even pass on a better price to our customers.
Q.What if I started a project and now realize that I need help?
A.No worries, this is quite common. Winsweiler Design will work with you to help determine what you need to get your project going again. Saving you time and money while keeping your project moving forward.
Q.I want my project to be unique and special, not trendy, how can I get that when I have a budget to stick to?
A.That is what design is all about for me, creating something that is unique and special to my clients. I take the time to understand and get to know you, your lifestyle, dreams, and space. I meet with you in your home and ask the questions that will lead me to the inspiration needed to create a space that captures not only your uniqueness, but also that of your home. I am accustomed to working with all different budgets, and often use innovative materials that are more cost effect as well as unique. I also have a love for reusing things, which always is a great opportunity to be green and different!
Q.Do you work with odd shaped rooms or small space?
A.Yes, small and odd shaped rooms are a secret love of mine. I think challenging spaces are wonderful opportunities to create something special; it forces me to think outside the box and truly be creative. You would be surprised to discover how much room you can gain by creative space planning.
Q.After we settle on a the design, will you be available to help me deal with issues that come up during construction and make sure the design is being implemented correctly?
A.Absolutely. There are all sorts of situations that can come up during construction, some relate to the structure and can impact the design, while others may be questions that the construction crew has about a specific detail that should be addressed before work continues, not after which is often the case. I make it a point to be as available as possible for my clients so that I can help them when these issues come up. On larger projects, I usually discuss having weekly or biweekly meetings at the site to address such issues. On smaller jobs the visits may be on a “as need” basis. These visits and meetings are essential for a successful project. Not only does it saves you money (not to mention less stress) because questions are addressed, mistakes are caught beforehand and, the schedule is kept. It also ensures that the design integrity & objectives are maintained, leaving you with a wonderful space to enjoy.
Q.How will my contractor know what to do?
A.WD can provide you with floor plans, elevations, details, sketches & drawings, etc, to graphically illustrate the design for your contractor and for bidding purposes.
