My solution:
I got rid of the carpet and
opted for a rich dark custom stained wood floor which contrasted nicely with the beautiful hand knotted antiqued rug I found.
The furnishings selected were light and elegant with a subtle touch of whimsy, as shown in the animal print
used on the back of the Barbara Barry chairs.
Since the room was rather narrow, and with the existing fireplace looking very flat, it was important to get the right proportions for the new fireplace mantel. I worked with a local company to design and create this custom piece. It turned out great and now commands your attention for all the right reasons.
